Essential Function: The Value Stream Manager reports directly to the Director, Operations and will ensure value stream financial and operational metrics and key performance indicators are met. The Value Stream Manager will also drive continuous improvement of the value stream at all levels and act as liaison with other functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides strategic direction for value stream including long and short range resource planning (labor, equipment) to ensure effective and profitable line function, adjusting to changing customer or business needs as required. Monitors and reacts to financial and operational metrics. Provides reports and pro-actively escalates issues to senior management that may impact business objectives. Communicates with others across the organization to gain information and support, escalate issues, receive feedback and suggestions and provide updates and information. Executes the manufacturing schedules based on information and requirements from management and customer --- reviews production orders, schedules, and pull signals to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan production. Ensures delivery of products on time, in accordance with quality standards, and at the lowest possible cost. Supervises production employees, including participation in selection, performance management (including evaluation and discipline), coaching, training and employee development, and ensuring compliance to legal and company requirements. Coordinates training, develops and inspires supervisors and team leads to develop high performance teams. Develops training needs matrices for proper tracking. Ensure OJT is standardized and results in increasing production efficiency and effectiveness. Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists employees in solving work problems. Ensures that Safety, Health and Environmental compliance is included as part of everyday activities. Works cooperatively with the EH&S Manager to improve employee engagement in safety, health and environmental initiatives. Conducts process confirmations to ensure standard work processes are being followed. Identifies and addresses non-compliance and lowered productivity, looking for continuous improvement opportunities. Assists and supports organization's business strategy and organizational transformation and actively communicates with similar functions seeking out best practices. Acts as liaison between downstream team and other departments. Complies, stores and retrieves production data. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate. Collaboratively manage work cell(s)/value stream(s) with technical Lead Person(s) and/or Supervisors driving continuous quality and performance improvements based on established metrics. Develop strong relationships with Engineering to assist with goal achievement. Champion Lean Manufacturing efforts within work cell(s)/value stream(s) to improve established metrics such as Cycle Time Reduction, budget variances, inventory levels, 5S, TPM, One Piece Flow, SPC, First Pass Yield, Schedule Adherence, Training, Setup Reduction, and Safety. Supports Silfex's Lean Manufacturing culture by: Owning the continuous improvement process for area of responsibility and actively supporting other areas; ensuring all employees are engaged in daily improvement activities;Teaching, mentoring, and coaching employees on the key lean concepts, observation methods and the continuous improvement process, including their responsibility to actively participate;--Providing direction and guidance on where to focus attention and improvement efforts. Identify training needs for direct reports. Develop training needs matrices for proper tracking. Establish training sessions for new employees and maximize production efficiency through training.--Ensure that training is interactive and effective. Maintain and monitor inventory at established targets for all required manufacturing materials. Champion a reward and recognition process within work cell(s)/value stream(s) to foster participation, competitiveness and a sense of ownership. Carry out special projects and all other additional duties as assigned. Eligible to receive deemed exports of EAR or ITAR controlled technology. Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Manufacturing. Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Present to large groups at all levels of the organization. Lead and facilitate progressive change and deal effectively with all levels of management and in alignment with the Business Code of Conduct. Plan and organize with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and assignments. Utilize ERP/MRP, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word to manage projects, programs and deliverables. Define and solve technical problems. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Perform tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments. Perform other duties as assigned by department management. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor's degree in engineering/business or related discipline--or minimum 8 years' experience in engineering or production management.-- Minimum 10 years overall experience in a production environment. Minimum 5 years operations management/program management/CI management experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years' experience leading and managing a team in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop operational plans. Demonstrated knowledge of business finance and ability to link financial outcomes with operations actions and strategy. Thorough demonstrated knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement, experience leading operational transformation. Demonstrated organizational, communication and leadership skills. Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, verbally and in writing, to individuals at all levels and to cross-functional groups. Demonstrated knowledge of Crystal Growing equipment and processes. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in engineering/business/MBA. Five or more years Crystal Growing experience.
