  About the position:
  As a Surgical Nurse at Madison Health, you will beresponsible providing direct and indirect patient care in the surgicalsuite, endoscopy suite and PACU.You will coordinate the needs of the surgical team and manage the care of the patient during andafter the procedure.Communication withphysicians/Nurse Manager/co-workers about changes in patient'sclinical condition is key.You will be expected to quickly andaccurately to changes in patient condition, and to use independent judgment regarding priority of work, changes inpatient condition, evaluating patient's response to care and emergencysituations.This position will be scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 4, 10-hour or 5, 8-hour (day) shifts.On-Call rotation is required for evenings and weekends with a 45 minute response time.
  
  Other Key job qualities/duties:
  
  • Prepares the surgical suite for the procedure establishing and maintaining asepsis. Obtains the needed equipment, x-ray, and supplies per surgeon preference. Assists in transporting the patient to and from the surgical suite. Assists with patient transfer to and from the operating room table using correct body mechanics and devices ensuring patient and staff safety. Safely positions and secures the patient on the table.
  • Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgical team throughout the surgical period. Assists the anesthesiologist during the patient induction and emergent phases of anesthesia.Administers conscious sedation agents and prescribed medication to patients under the direction of the attending physician. Maintains perioperative record including charges, specimen labeling, and implant documentation.
  • Maintains necessary equipment including endoscopes, monitors and processors. Follows department procedures for sterilizing equipment. Ensures the proper handling of specimens.
    What qualificationsare we looking for?
    
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
    • At least two years of previous operating room experience is strongly preferred.
    • BLS certification within 30 days of employment
    • ACLS certification within 6 months of employment
    • PALS certification within 1 year of employment (if applicable to department)
    • Basic computer skills required; prior EPICpatient charting experience preferred
