The V.P.-Controller/HR/Finance role is a leadership position with financial and human resource management responsibilities. The V.P. is responsible for managing the accounting and human resource duties of the business and participating in business development initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Directing the accounting department to deliver day to day, monthly, annual and strategic activities which support the business plan. Accounting Duties: Financial reporting, Operational accounting management and back-up, Process Procedures and Control and Misc. Period end financial reporting, operational oversite including processing all bookkeeping duties as back-up, maintaining procedural controls and other accounting reporting functions. Development of efficient accounting processes with internal controls, documentation of processes and maintenance of accounting system. Team participant in development of business analytics: Operations and Financial. Administrating, monitoring and directing human resource (HR) activities. Responsible for essential employee interaction including hiring both direct and through employments agencies as well as contractual maintenance of agency contracts. Responsible for adherence and compliance with DOL mandates such as FSLA (Fair Labor Standards Act) and EEOC requirements as well as I-9 and E-Verify. Must be able to conduct HR investigations into employee complaints. HR has oversight of all employee benefits. Must be able to investigate and compile information to allow management to make informed plan choices and options. HR will act as plan administrator for all selected plans and is responsible for auditing enrollment compliance, deduction accuracy, COBRA elections and ACA reporting. Conduct employee meetings as needed for benefits, law changes or company policy updates. HR is ultimately responsible for payroll and will arbitrate resolution of any errors. HR/Controller is responsible for all government reporting including: Mandated surveys, OSHA logs, OBWC accidents, DOL requests Responsible for administering FLMA requests Obtaining documentation for all requests and facts behind granting or denying leave, administering leave taken and re-certification as needed. Administering company policies (per handbook) such as: Paid Paternity and Bereavement Overseeing the disciplinary point system including suspension and termination, Reviewing all terminations for just cause (even though company is at-will employer Administer unemployment compensation claims and adjudicate unjust claims. Recording all documented company training, including shift specific, OSHA required and other. Administer the participation in the OBWCs Drug Free Safety Program at the advanced level. Maintain company adherence to employment laws such as ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act), HIPPA, records retention laws and others as required. Prepare recommendations for updates to Employee Handbook. This might be from changes in Employment law, government mandates, environmental changes, disciplinary changes REQUIREMENTS: 4 year BS or BA Degree Financial software utilization experience Human Resource experience 5 - 10 plus years of related experience including: o Strong General Accounting experience preferably within a manufacturing environment o Cost Accounting exposure Analytical, problem solving and critical thinking a must CPA, CMA, or MBA desired but not required
