Lean Manufacturing Tech - Day Shift
Essential Function: The Silfex Manufacturing System (SMS) is a PDCA
based approach to achieving improved production capabilities based
on Continuous Improvement methodologies. As a member of this
Project Team you will provide support and work directly with, but
not limited to different levels of Silfex Management (VS Managers,
Supervisors, Leads and external consultants) in a change management
environment. The focus is on systemic processes to improve
performance, inclusive of management and business systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, performs, and implements process improvement
- Diagrams and evaluates existing processes. Organizes, leads,
and facilitates cross-functional project teams.
- Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement,
identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities.
- Performs studies and collects data to identify the root cause
of most significant issues and ensures the necessary Actions are
properly assigned and implemented.
- Measures performance against process requirements. Aligns
improvement to performance shortfalls.
- Provides consultation on techniques to improve process
performance and product quality.
- Use various software packages to create spreadsheets, text
documents, database documents and visual presentations.
- Facilitate/support training and
presentations focused on Lean Manufacturing topics, process
improvement/problem solving methodologies, system reviews, and
methods to remove current/potential barriers.Recommends new
approaches, policies, and procedures to management to effect
continual improvements in efficiency of department and services
- Application of Lean Manufacturing concepts, including 5S, Value
Stream Maps, Visual Controls, Kanbans, Standard Work and Waste
- Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and
processes. Benchmarks external companies for fresh improvement
- Carry out special projects and all other appropriate and
reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality
Management System and properly apply Quality and Operating
Procedures as appropriate.
- Perform all work related tasks in a safe manner and report any
unsafe conditions to SILFEX management.
- Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe
conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director
- Schedule flexibility to work with all shifts while implementing
new tools or practices and for maintaining the SMS. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed
below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required. Must be a high school graduate or have a general
education degree (GED). Must have 3-5 years manufacturing
experience. Lean Manufacturing experience and project management
experience preferred. Preferred is an Associate's Degree (A.A.) or
equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to
two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write
reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability
to effectively present information and respond to questions from
groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Ability to calculate
figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability
to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and
proportions to practical situations. Ability to interpret a variety
of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
form. Must be able to work effectively, individually, and in a team
environment. Must be able to work with different levels of
Management and across multiple indirect departments (QA,
Engineering, Maintenance, etc.). Must be able to base decisions on
data supported facts and be detail-driven. Must be able to perform
successfully under minimum supervision. Must be able to attain
sufficient task success to establish credibility with management,
staff and employees.
