Job Description Job Description Description: Job Title: Kitchen Shift Manager at Flying Horse Farms Kitchen Shift Managers are responsible for providing leadership and supervision during assigned shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and mission-driven food service for campers, volunteers, and staff. Working under the direction of the Food Services Manager, Kitchen Shift Managers lead Food Services Assistants, support meal preparation and service, and uphold all food safety standards. Responsibilities: Supervise Food Services Assistants during assigned shifts to ensure tasks are completed efficiently At the direction of the Food Services Manager, prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines Ensure food is prepared, served, and stored in compliance with all health and safety regulations Train, coach, and support Food Services Assistants and volunteers in best practices for kitchen and dining hall tasks Collaborate with the Food Services Manager to maintain inventory and supplies Uphold kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout shifts Serve as the point person for the kitchen when the Food Services Manager is not present Model professionalism, dedication, and teamwork in a camp setting Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older Minimum 2 years of comparable high-volume cooking experience ServSafe Food Handler Certification Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to lead a team, delegate responsibilities, and hold others accountable Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. Gilead, Ohio, camp first opened its gates in 2010 and hosts about 900 children and families each year. Flying Horse Farms is the first camp in the Midwest to become a full member of the SeriousFun Children’s Network. Founded in 1988 by actor, philanthropist and Ohio native Paul Newman, the Network is a community of independently managed and financed camps and programs creating opportunities for children with serious illnesses and their families. The Network has evolved from one camp to a global community serving 732,000 children and families across five continents. The children who attend camp have illnesses including cancer, heart conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, blood disorders, asthma, gastrointestinal disorders and facial anomalies.
